Our Hanoi tour begins with a scenic 2.5-hour drive via the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Halong expressway, with a stop along the way to refresh.
Upon Arrival in Hanoi, we will visit as many of the following sights as possible:
• Drive through Hanoi’s bustling streets, lined with beautiful French colonial architecture and tree-lined boulevards around West Lake and Truc Bach Lake. We’ll pause for photos at Tran Quoc Pagoda - one of Vietnam’s oldest - and pass by landmarks like the Parliament House, Party House, President’s Residence, and Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the final resting place of Vietnam’s founding leader.
• Explore the Temple of Literature, founded in 1076 as Vietnam’s first university, established within a temple to educate royalty, mandarins, and the elite. This historic university operated for an impressive 700 years, with serene gardens and well-preserved architecture offering a glimpse into Vietnam’s past.
• Visit Ngoc Son Temple (Temple of the Jade Mountain), a tranquil spot on a small island within Hoan Kiem Lake (Lake of the Returned Sword). Known for its picturesque setting, this temple offers a serene escape within Hanoi’s vibrant cityscape.
• Savor authentic Vietnamese street cuisine for lunch. Embark on a walking food tour with our guide, who will introduce you to Hanoi’s best street foods and bustling markets. Sample favorites like fried sour spring rolls, crispy “pillow” dumplings, varieties of sticky rice, “Pho” or “Bún chả”- a northern Vietnamese classic - and conclude at a cozy Old Quarter café famous for its “egg coffee.”
• Stop at Hanoi Train Street: Experience the thrill of watching a train pass through this narrow residential street - a unique sight in Hanoi’s urban setting.
• Trishaw Ride through the Old Quarter (time permitting): Take in the vibrant atmosphere of the Old Quarter’s narrow streets, packed with small businesses, lively market stalls, and local vendors, all from the seat of a traditional trishaw.
Return to Port: Conclude your tour and return to the port in time for departure.
