08:00 – 08:30: Pick up by driver and tour guide at outside gate to start the Sihanoukville city tour
(A shuttle-bus is usually provided from the quay to the gate, otherwise a short walk)
Today you will visit:
FISHING VILLAGE & FLOATING HOUSE: The fisherman catches fish, prawns, squid and lobster and pack for delivery to the local market and other provinces in Cambodia. You will also see the lifestyle of people living in their floating house.
KBAL CHHAY WATERFALL: The kbal chhay waterfalls near Sihanouk Ville are situated on the Prek Tek Sab River about 30 minutes form Sihanouk Ville. These falls are very popular with locals Cambodian and tourists alike. They are most impressive in the wet season between July to October.
WAT LEU PAGODA: There are 5 Wats (Buddhist temples) around Sihanouk Ville. Wat Leu is located on Sihanouk Ville Mountain, 6 kilometers from the provincial town. Wat Leu is commonly known as “Upper Wat”. It is surrounded by forest and overlooks the town, ocean and nearby islands.
The Wat Leu monks maintain the Khmer Buddhist traditions. On special days many people will prepare food and fruit to offer to the monk at the pagoda. In return the monks will bless them and wish them good luck and happiness in their lives.
LUNCH at Sandan Training restaurant. Supporting disadvantaged youths with training in cooking and hospitality. Enjoy a 5-course tasting menu of fine Cambodian food in a lovely garden setting.
Alternative: Lunch is at the Don Bosco Hotel School, which trains young people to work in the hospitality industry
PHSAR LEU CENTRAL MARKET: is the main market in Sihanouk Ville. It is a typically busy Khmer market. A wide range of goods are offered from a bewildering number of market stalls in close proximity. Visitors will enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of this vibrant market. An experience not to be missed.
WAT KROM PAGODA: is commonly known as “Lower Wat”. It is on the edge of town, beautifully landscaped, and offers wonderful views across Sihanouk Ville. Wat Krom is a quiet place for the monks to pray and maintain the Buddhist tradition that has long been the Cambodia way of life.
INDEPENDENCE MONUMENT: (Vimean Ekareach) was constructed in 1985 to mark Cambodia’s Independence from foreign rule as well as commemorating the war dead. It is situated in a small park on Ekareach Street (meaning Independence Street). The adjacent shrine is also used as a meeting hall for religious festivals.
16:00 – 16:30: Drop-off at cruise terminal. End of services.
