The Mekong Delta (Vietnamese: Đồng bằng Sông Cửu Long "Nine Dragon river delta"), also known as the Western Region (Vietnamese: Miền Tây) or the South-western region (Vietnamese: Tây Nam Bộ) is the region in southwestern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of tributaries. And it is known as the rice bowl of Vietnam.

Itinerary Details
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi
Pick up by driver & tour guide at Phu My Port by 7 am, transfer (2 hours) to Ho Chi Minh City to start your tour.
You will first leave the city for another hour driving toward Cu Chi tunnels, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, villagers drying noodles by the side of the road and other scenes typical to southern Vietnam. Arrive and start the visit of the famous Tunnels which consist of an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars. Start the visit with the Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc sections of the tunnels. Here you can imagine what it was like to be a guerrilla complete with Russian Carbine rifles and AK 47’s. Have lunch in local restaurant then return to Ho Chi Minh City to check in hotel.

our to visit the city’s sites including War museum, the Reunification Hall, formerly known as the Presidential Palace. Continue to the Old Post Office, the Notre Dame Cathedral. The last stop is Ben Thanh — the central market of the city and one of its liveliest and most colorful areas. Back to the hotel and overnight in your hotel in HCMC.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta – Phu My Port)
At 0800, check out your hotel and depart for the 2.5-hour drive to Cai Be, deep in the Mekong Delta. The tour begins with a visit of the small but quaint Cai Be floating market, followed by a visit to some home factories that produce rice paste, rice popcorn and coconut candy.
Proceed to evergreen islands among the Mekong River through a large network of meandering tributaries, crisscrossed with countless arroyos. Following take a 10-minute walk through a local village and fruit gardens before coming to a preserved ‘Mandarin’ house. Built centuries ago, at least four generations of the same family have lived here. Mrs. Kiet, the owner of the house will serve you an appetizing Vietnamese lunch.
Take a stroll through the family’s fruit orchard before continuing to Tan Phong Island where you will take a local rowing boat through the canals before returning to Cai Be where the vehicle waiting to take you back to the cruise at Phu My port.
